About me
I am a born-and-raised Austinite and UT graduate with a B.A. in Linguistics and a Museum Studies certificate. I have worked at the Harry Ransom Center as a Metadata Specialist since the beginning of August, 2024. My job is to clean up collection metadata in Qi, our Content Management System, ensuring standardization, quality control, and ease of use. I spend most of my time using software like OpenRefine and languages like Python to ensure that Qi vocabularies are internally consistent and reconciled to external controlled vocabularies. I also have developed workflows to procedurally check for quality and consistency of existing metadata, given presentations regarding Qi, and discussing metadata strategies with stakeholders.
Prior to my time at the Ransom Center, I worked in the Interlibrary Services department of the UT Library System. I am also involved in local politics and am a passionate advocate for transit and housing justice here in Austin. In my spare time, I enjoy watching Drag Race, trying new restaurants, and reading Wikipedia articles.
